Appointment FAQs
-
How long will my appointment take?
An appointment could take anywhere between 45 mins to 3 hours depending on what you book and the condition and length of your nails. For example a gel polish manicure will be quicker than a structured builder gel manicure. Shorter nails will take less time than medium length nails, a plain colour will be quicker than detailed nail art. If you are short of time please advise when booking. Your appointment should be an opportunity to relax and enjoy the treatment.
-
How much will my appointment cost?
Again this depends on what you book. Prices are listed on the bookings page of the website and saved in an instagram highlight. You will receive an email confirmation on booking which details your service and cost so that you know in advance. Average appointment cost would be between £30 and £57. You can tailor your service to suit your own budget. Any questions please send a message and I can advise.
Please note that if you change your mind about your service at your appointment you will still be charged for what you originally booked. For example, if you have booked a pre service removal and then attend the appointment having removed your previous gel at home you will still be charged for the removal as the time has been set aside for you.

What brands will be used during my appointment?
I only use high-end professional products.
I am Kokoist certified and use Kokoist gel products which are vegan, cruelty free and 9-free. I also use Twenty as a builder gel option which is also vegan, cruelty free and 10-free. I apply products as per brand instructions and cure brands in their corresponding lamp.
I use Navy pro manicure tools for my prep work and Niba cuticle and hand care products to finish my manicures.

Do I need to complete a consultation before my appointment?
Yes, a consultation form will be emailed to you before your appointment which you should complete online before attending your appointment. Please check your junk folder in case you miss this email and get in touch asap if you have not received it. If you have not completed the form then it will need to be done at the time of your appointment, before your service, which may eat into your allocated time and result in your service having to be altered to fit.
-
Is there an age limit for treatments?
Yes, gel services cannot be performed on anyone under the age of 14. Written parental consent is required and a parent or guardian must complete the consultation form.
However, a kids file and polish can be booked for those under 14 which uses regular nail polish instead of gel.
-
What is your hygiene process?
I uphold a strict routine of cleaning and sanitising. Metal tools such as cuticle pushers and nail clippers are cleaned and sanitised in an ultrasonic cleaner and detergent to kill 99.9% of bacteria after every use.
Disposable materials such as nail files and orange sticks are disposed of after use, only being used for one client, never shared between clients.
I wear disposable gloves at all times.
All hard surfaces such as the nail table and inside of the lamp are cleaned and disinfected after every client.

I’ve never had my nails done before, I’m not sure what to book?
I would recommend a gel polish manicure to start with, maybe add 2 accent nails if you fancy some nail art.
Feel free to send a message or email and I can talk you through the options and work out what best suits your needs.
-
How long will my gel nail treatment last?
On average a gel manicure will last from 2 - 3 weeks on most people, but there are many variables. Your lifestyle and the type of work that you do will have an effect as will the health of your nails and your at home aftercare routine.
It is important to choose a realistic length and shape of nail to suit your individual situation. Different types of gel product are available to suit different clients. I can advise on this.

Do I need to take a break from getting my nails done to let them breath?
Your nails don’t actually breathe, they get all of their oxygen from your blood supply. The nail plate (the part that gets painted with gel) is made from a protein called keratin which is a non-living material. So there is no need to remove gel to “let them breathe”.
If you would like to take a break from getting your nails done for other reasons then make sure that you get your gel removed professionally, keep your nails trimmed short, apply cuticle oil daily and moisturise your hands.
-
What do you mean by aftercare?
I will give you a leaflet at the end of your appointment which goes into detail of the dos and don’ts of how to care for your gel nails at home.
Basically, having beautiful, healthy nails is a team effort. I can make them look neat and pretty but once you leave the studio it is down to you. Your nails will feel hard and strong when they are overlayed with gel but using them as tools will damage the gel and in turn damage your natural nails. Protect them from chemicals by wearing gloves when you clean and do dishes. Use cuticle oil and moisturise your hands to nourish them. Do not pick off the gel as you will end up picking off a layer of your nail plate too which makes it harder to get the next set of gel to stick and creates a vicious cycle.
